About 1999 Harley-Davidson Road King Models

1999 brought Road King's widest-ever variant count, including a Japan-market Police model and a dedicated Police Escort trim alongside the standard bike, Road King Classic, base Police, and two separate sidecar listings (FLHR and FLHRCI). Not one of these eight configurations left the factory with a stereo, speakers, or the wiring to add one easily — Road King's lighter touring design simply didn't include it.

Every 1999 Road King variant takes the same bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, whether it's the civilian Road King Classic or the Police Escort. Compare it to the faired Street Glide family, which fits differently, or the FLHR sidecar page for handlebar mounting notes specific to the sidecar rig and its extra hardware and clearance needs.
