The 1998 Heritage Classic carried its retro-cruiser formula — Softail frame, Evolution 1340, deep fenders — right to the end of the Evolution era. It never had a factory touchscreen, and it wasn't meant to.
The HogPlay Media Screen fixes that with a 7-inch handlebar-mounted screen wired to power and ground, bringing wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to a 1998 Heritage Classic built purely around look and feel.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 1998 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

The Heritage Classic's wide, swept handlebar gives the HogPlay 7-inch Media Screen a clean, natural mounting spot without crowding the speedometer or the classic-styled switches.
The mount taps power and ground near the headlight and is fully reversible, so the bike's factory look stays intact if the screen ever comes off.
The 1998 Heritage Classic gets real screen-based navigation from the HogPlay Media Screen, mounted right to the handlebar. Dual Bluetooth links to your phone for wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, plus a second channel for an aux amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A small speaker built into the unit handles turn-by-turn prompts on its own. The whole thing is fully sealed, waterproof, and rugged — a fitting match for the last model year before Harley's Evolution engine gave way to the Twin Cam.
