The 1998 Fat Boy carried its solid-wheel, muscular Softail look through the last year of the Evolution engine, with the same total lack of factory electronics as ever.
The HogPlay Media Screen adds a 7-inch bar-mounted touchscreen wired to power and ground, giving the 1998 Fat Boy wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 1998 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

The Fat Boy's wide handlebar gives the HogPlay 7-inch Media Screen a solid, visible mounting spot without touching the factory speedometer or switches.
Wiring taps power and ground near the headlight, and the reversible mount means the bike's iconic look stays intact.
The 1998 Fat Boy finally gets a screen with the HogPlay Media Screen. Dual Bluetooth links to your phone for wireless CarPlay or Android Auto and, on a second channel, to an aux amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A small speaker built into the unit handles turn-by-turn prompts alone. The housing stays fully sealed, waterproof, and rugged through weather and miles.
