A headset bypass is required for any CarPlay, Android Auto or Media Box solution on Indian screens.
Factory CarPlay is locked behind a paired headset — the head unit wants the headset's microphone, so it simply will not run without one paired. The USB port is restricted the same way, which is why a Piglet or a Media Box does nothing on a stock bike no matter what you plug in. A HogPlay headset bypass removes that requirement — CarPlay and the USB port both work without a headset paired. If you ride in a state where a helmet isn't required, that matters: a headset isn't a realistic answer on an open-face or bare-headed ride.

What each part does
Bypass
Your 7" Ride Command has the hardware for Apple CarPlay, but Indian gates it behind a paired headset — the head unit wants the headset's microphone, and without one CarPlay will not run. The USB port is restricted the same way, so a Piglet or a Media Box does nothing on a stock bike. A HogPlay headset bypass plugs into the factory harness and removes that requirement: CarPlay and the USB port both work with no headset paired. If your state lets you ride without a helmet, that is the difference between using the system and not. No flashing, no dealer visit, and it is reversible — unplug it and the bike is stock.
USB Piglets
A USB Piglet plugs into the head unit's USB port and adds Mirror Link and AirCast screen mirroring — mirroring your phone's actual screen to the dash, which no head unit does on its own.
Media Boxes
A Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and other streaming apps to the 7" Ride Command, running them on the screen you already have.

What is Ride Command on my Indian Motorcycle?
Ride Command is Indian’s factory infotainment system — a glove-friendly touchscreen that handles navigation, audio, trip data and Bluetooth phone calls. On MY2020+ Chieftain, Roadmaster, Challenger and Pursuit models it runs on a 7″ display, while some trims and older bikes carry only a smaller 4″ screen with a narrower feature set.
Which Indian models and years got the 7-inch Ride Command screen?
The 7″ Ride Command display is standard on MY2020-and-newer Chieftain, Roadmaster, Challenger and Pursuit touring models. Some earlier or lower trims of these same families shipped with only a 4″ display instead, so it’s worth confirming your exact trim before assuming what your screen supports.
Does my Indian Chieftain have CarPlay?
If your Chieftain is MY2020 or newer with the 7″ Ride Command display, yes — it has factory wired CarPlay. If yours has the smaller 4″ screen, it doesn’t come with CarPlay from the factory at all. Not sure which screen you have? Use our fitment finder to confirm before you order.
Does my Roadmaster or Pursuit support Apple CarPlay?
MY2020-and-newer Roadmaster and Pursuit models with the 7″ Ride Command screen include factory wired CarPlay. Trims running the 4″ display do not get CarPlay at all from the factory, regardless of model year.
What about the Indian Challenger — does it have Ride Command CarPlay?
Yes — MY2020+ Challenger models equipped with the 7″ Ride Command display include factory wired CarPlay. If you’re unsure which display your Challenger carries, check your VIN and trim against our fitment finder.
Is Apple CarPlay on Ride Command wired or wireless?
Factory Apple CarPlay on Ride Command is wired only — there is no wireless CarPlay option from Indian. On top of that, the factory system won’t launch CarPlay at all unless you’ve first paired a Bluetooth headset to the bike, which is an extra step a lot of riders find frustrating.
Why won’t my Ride Command CarPlay work without a Bluetooth headset?
That’s how Indian built the factory system — CarPlay stays gated until a Bluetooth headset is paired to Ride Command, even though the CarPlay session itself runs over the wired connection. If you ride without a headset, or just don’t want that requirement, the HogPlay USB-C bypass removes it.
Does Indian Ride Command support Android Auto?
No — Ride Command has no factory Android Auto on any Indian model or trim. Android riders get navigation and media through Ride Command’s own built-in apps only, unless you add a HogPlay Piglet, which brings Android Auto to the factory screen.

What does the HogPlay USB-C bypass actually do on Ride Command?
The HogPlay USB-C bypass plugs into your Ride Command system and unlocks the factory Apple CarPlay so it runs without first pairing a Bluetooth headset. Your CarPlay session still runs wired, but the headset-pairing gate is gone.
Do I still need a Bluetooth headset after installing the HogPlay bypass?
No. That’s the point of the bypass — it removes Ride Command’s requirement to have a headset paired before CarPlay will launch. You can still pair one for calls and audio if you ride with a headset, but it’s no longer required to use CarPlay.
How do I get Android Auto on my Indian Ride Command?

What is Mirror Link and does HogPlay support it on Ride Command?
Mirror Link projects compatible apps from your Android phone straight onto the Ride Command display. The HogPlay Piglet adds Mirror Link alongside Android Auto and AirPlay, giving Ride Command a phone-projection option Indian never built in.
Can I run AirPlay on my Indian’s Ride Command screen?
Yes, with a HogPlay Piglet installed. It adds AirPlay to Ride Command on top of Android Auto and Mirror Link — none of which come factory on any Indian trim.
Can I stream Netflix or YouTube on my Indian Ride Command display?
Not from the factory, but a HogPlay Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and other streaming apps directly to your Ride Command screen, plus SD card and USB playback for music and video you already own.

My Indian only has the 4-inch Ride Command display — can I still get CarPlay?
The 4″ display has no factory CarPlay support and no way to add it internally. A bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen gives those bikes their own dedicated CarPlay display instead of trying to work through the small factory unit.
What’s the difference between upgrading a 4-inch Ride Command and a 7-inch one?
On the 7″ screen you’re unlocking or adding features on top of the existing Ride Command hardware — bypass, Piglet, Media Box. On the 4″ screen there’s no CarPlay to unlock, so a HogPlay Media Screen mounted to your bars adds a separate, dedicated CarPlay display instead.
How difficult is it to install a HogPlay bypass or Piglet on Indian Ride Command?
