The MSHD9813RG is Diamond Audio's Plug N-Play Digital Media Receiver for the 1998-2013 Harley-Davidson Road Glide. It replaces the factory radio in the fairing of the earlier bikes and brings a modern touchscreen and wireless phone integration to them.
Audio processing is handled on board: a 10-channel DSP with time delay and crossovers, plus six independent EQs and ten channels of clip-free output to feed amplifiers.
What HogPlay adds to your MSHD9813RG
Your MSHD9813RG already does wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, so you don't need us for that. What it can't do is stream: a HogPlay Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and other apps straight to the screen that's already on your bike.
A USB Piglet adds Mirror Link and AirCast screen mirroring — putting your phone's actual screen on the dash, which no head unit does on its own.
A bypass adaptor doesn't apply to a Diamond Audio unit: a bypass unlocks a factory CarPlay radio, and yours has already replaced it.
What each part does
USB Piglets
A USB Piglet plugs into the head unit's USB port and adds Mirror Link and AirCast screen mirroring — mirroring your phone's actual screen to the dash, which no head unit does on its own.
Media Boxes
A Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and other streaming apps to the MSHD9813RG, running them on the screen you already have.
Why there's no bypass adaptor here
A bypass adaptor unlocks a factory CarPlay head unit. Once a Diamond Audio MSHD9813RG is installed there's no factory radio left to unlock — the MSHD9813RG already does CarPlay itself. What HogPlay adds on top is screen mirroring and streaming, not activation.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Diamond Audio MSHD9813RG?
The MSHD9813RG is Diamond Audio’s Plug-N-Play Digital Media Receiver built specifically for the 1998–2013 Harley-Davidson Road Glide, and it replaces your factory radio outright — no bypass, no piggyback box.
How big is the MSHD9813RG’s screen, and how bright is it?
You get a 7″ glove-friendly touchscreen rated at 1,000 NIT, so it stays readable in direct sun on the highway and still responds through a riding glove.
Will the MSHD9813RG fit my Road Glide?
Yes — the MSHD9813RG is built for 1998–2013 Road Glide, Road Glide Ultra, Road Glide Custom, and CVO Road Glide models. If your bike falls outside that window, check the fitment finder for the right unit.
I have a Street Glide from the same era — is this the right unit?
Not quite — Diamond builds the Road Glide and Street Glide as separate part numbers because the dash and fairing differ. For a 1998–2013 Street Glide, you want the MSHD9813SG instead.
My Road Glide is a 2016 — does the MSHD9813RG still work?
No, the MSHD9813RG is engineered around the pre-2014 Road Glide dash. For 2014–2023 touring models, look at the MSHD14 instead.
Does the MSHD9813RG fit a 2024 or newer Road Glide?
No. 2024-and-up Road Glides run Harley’s Skyline platform with a digital A2B communication bus, and no aftermarket head unit — including any Diamond model — drops in as a factory replacement on those bikes.
I’m not sure which year or model I have — how do I confirm fit?
Run your bike through the fitment finder and it will point you to the exact Diamond unit — or the right alternative — for your specific year and model.
Does the MSHD9813RG support Apple CarPlay?
Yes — native wireless Apple CarPlay is built directly into the MSHD9813RG, so it connects the moment you pair your phone. No adapter or bypass required.
More questions (19)
Does the MSHD9813RG support Android Auto too?
Yes. Unlike CarPlay-only aftermarket units, the MSHD9813RG has native wireless Android Auto built in right alongside CarPlay — both platforms work out of the box on the same head unit.
Do I need a bypass box for CarPlay or Android Auto on this unit?
No. The MSHD9813RG already has both wireless CarPlay and wireless Android Auto natively integrated, so a bypass box has no role here — that’s only needed on bikes keeping their factory infotainment.
What does a HogPlay Piglet add if CarPlay and Android Auto are already built in?
A HogPlay Piglet adds true screen mirroring — Mirror Link for Android and AirCast/AirPlay for iPhone — letting you cast your whole phone screen to the MSHD9813RG, which no head unit does natively.
Can I mirror my phone’s navigation app that isn’t supported inside CarPlay or Android Auto?
Yes — that’s exactly what a HogPlay Piglet is for. It mirrors your full phone display to the MSHD9813RG’s 7″ screen so apps outside the CarPlay/Android Auto ecosystem still show up.
Can I stream Netflix or YouTube on the MSHD9813RG?
Not on its own — native CarPlay and Android Auto don’t open streaming video apps. Add a HogPlay Media Box to unlock Netflix, YouTube, YouTube Music, podcasts, and more on the MSHD9813RG’s display.
Can this unit play music from a USB drive or SD card?
Add-in playback from a USB drive or SD card comes through a HogPlay Media Box paired with the MSHD9813RG, giving you local file playback on top of its built-in Bluetooth streaming.
Is the MSHD9813RG truly plug-n-play to install?
Yes — the MSHD9813RG is a Plug-N-Play Digital Media Receiver designed to slot into the 1998–2013 Road Glide fairing using the factory connectors, so there’s no splicing the stock harness.
Will I keep my handlebar or factory controls after installing this?
The MSHD9813RG is engineered to integrate cleanly with your Road Glide’s existing setup, so your riding experience stays familiar — check the listing’s control compatibility notes for your specific trim before ordering.
What kind of audio outputs does the MSHD9813RG have?
You get six 5V RMS RCA preamp outputs plus four clip-free amplified outputs rated 50W x 4 at 2 ohm or 25W x 4 at 4 ohm, giving you the flexibility to run a full amplified system or drive speakers directly from the head unit.
What is the 10-channel DSP on the MSHD9813RG actually good for?
The MSHD9813RG’s 10-channel DSP lets you dial in time delay and crossovers per channel with six independent EQs, so you can tune each speaker location on the Road Glide instead of settling for one blanket EQ curve.
Is the MSHD9813RG weatherproof?
It carries an IPX6 rating, built to handle the rain, road spray, and washdowns a Road Glide sees — a baseline shared across Diamond’s whole Harley lineup.
Does the MSHD9813RG come with a microphone for calls?
Yes, a microphone is included for hands-free calling over its Bluetooth 5.2 connection, so phone calls route through the MSHD9813RG’s speakers without any extra wiring.
How is the MSHD9813RG different from my stock Road Glide radio?
Your factory 1998–2013 radio has no CarPlay, no Android Auto, and no touchscreen. The MSHD9813RG replaces it with a 7″ 1000 NIT touchscreen, native wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10-channel DSP for real tuning control.
What’s the difference between the MSHD9813RG and the MSHD14?
They share the same 7″ 1000 NIT touchscreen, DSP, and dual native CarPlay/Android Auto, but the MSHD9813RG is built for 1998–2013 Road Glide dashes while the MSHD14 covers 2014–2023 touring models with Maestro RR2 steering-wheel-style integration and aux triggers.
How does the MSHD9813RG compare to a CarPlay-only aftermarket radio?
A CarPlay-only unit leaves Android riders needing a separate bypass or adapter. The MSHD9813RG has both wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto native from the factory, so either phone works without buying anything extra.
I ride a 2005 Road Glide and want CarPlay without ripping into my dash — is this it?
Yes — the MSHD9813RG plugs directly into your 1998–2013 Road Glide’s existing connectors and gives you native wireless CarPlay in the process, no dash surgery or bypass module needed.
My riding partner has an Android phone and I have an iPhone — will this unit work for both of us on the same bike?
Yes — the MSHD9813RG runs native wireless Apple CarPlay and native wireless Android Auto side by side, so whoever’s riding just connects their own phone without swapping settings.
I want to glance at my phone screen for a group ride app that isn’t in CarPlay — what do I add?
Pair the MSHD9813RG with a HogPlay Piglet for Mirror Link or AirCast/AirPlay screen mirroring, so any app on your phone can be cast straight to the dash.
Where can I see all the Diamond Audio radio options for my Harley?
Visit the Diamond Audio brand hub to compare the MSHD9813RG against the MSHD9813SG and MSHD14, or run your bike through the fitment finder to land on the right one directly.
