2021 is the engine year for the Road King Special: Harley grew every base touring model's Milwaukee-Eight from 107 to 114 cubic inches, and the FLHRXS picked up the same bump. Nothing else about its formula changed — still a bare headlamp nacelle instead of a fairing, still a quick-detach windshield, and still no factory radio or screen of any kind to plug a bypass into. HogPlay handles it the same way regardless of the engine size: a self-contained 7-inch screen, with its own built-in speakers, that bolts on at the bars and runs wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and streaming apps. Available in Black, Black Jack Metallic or Snake Venom for the year.

No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen

The 2021 Harley-Davidson Road King Special left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2021 Harley-Davidson Road King Special and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2021 Harley-Davidson Road King Special

Under the tank, the 2021 Road King Special is a different bike than the year before — Harley's touring-wide jump from the Milwaukee-Eight 107 to the 114 (1,868cc) landed here too, adding real torque without changing anything about the bodywork. It's still the nacelle-and-windshield formula: no batwing, no shark-nose, and consequently no fairing-mounted radio or screen for the factory to install.

Because there was never a head unit to begin with, HogPlay skips the bypass step entirely and fits the FLHRXS with an add-on 7-inch CarPlay screen — a self-contained unit with its own speakers that delivers wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and streaming apps at the bars. Offered in Black, Black Jack Metallic and Snake Venom for 2021, plug-and-play and fully reversible.

The HogPlay Media Screen on the 2021 Harley-Davidson Road King Special runs a dual-Bluetooth design — pair your phone for wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on one channel while the other feeds an auxiliary amplifier, handlebar speakers or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A small built-in speaker handles turn-by-turn voice prompts and light audio on the move, and the fully sealed, waterproof housing is built rugged to stand up to the weather and the elements the 2021 Harley-Davidson Road King Special rides in.

Android Auto on the 2021 Harley-Davidson Road King Special: HogPlay makes the 2021 Harley-Davidson Road King Special run wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay — compare every Android Auto for Harley-Davidson & Indian motorcycles option, then confirm your exact fit with What Fits.
