The 2013 Harley-Davidson Softail Standard closed out an era — its final model year before Harley folded the stripped-down Softail lineup into the newer Slim. Built as a blank canvas for customizers, the Standard trimmed away chrome and extras in favor of clean hardtail-style lines, a low seat, and the workhorse Twin Cam 96 powering every 2013 Softail. What it never carried was a factory radio or infotainment. The fix for a 2013 Standard rider chasing modern connectivity: the HogPlay Media Screen.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 2013 Harley-Davidson Standard left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

Harley pitched the Softail Standard as the model riders reached for when they wanted to build their own bike from the ground up rather than follow a factory look. That same simplicity makes it an easy platform for adding modern electronics: no dash to cut into, no wiring harness to decode. The HogPlay Media Screen mounts directly to the handlebars, taps into the Standard's existing power and ground for a clean wired connection, and stays completely wireless to your phone for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Because the mount is reversible, the screen goes on and comes off without leaving marks on the bars or touching the stock wiring beyond the two power leads — a fitting upgrade for a bike that was built to be customized, not locked into one factory configuration.
Every HogPlay Media Screen built for the 2013 Softail Standard runs on dual Bluetooth: one channel pairs your phone for wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, while the second feeds an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A built-in speaker alone handles turn-by-turn voice prompts and light audio. The housing is fully sealed, waterproof, and rugged enough for whatever the road throws at a Softail Standard.
