About 2009 Harley-Davidson Road King Models

Not all 2009 Road King trims are wired alike. The Classic and Shrine editions use a fairing-mounted AM/FM head unit shared with other Harley touring bikes that year — no Bluetooth, no CarPlay — while the base Road King frequently ships without a factory fairing or stereo at all. Police-spec bikes carry whatever radio package their department specified, which varies by order.

Fairing-equipped trims take an aftermarket CarPlay head unit or a bypass adaptor; bikes without a factory stereo just need a bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen and nothing else. That includes the Road King Classic sidecar (FLHRC), the Road King sidecar (FLHR), and the Road King Police. Confirm your trim's fairing and dash opening before choosing a kit to avoid a mismatched order.
