The 2009 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe leans all the way into vintage cool — whitewall tires, laced wheels, skirted fenders, and enough chrome to channel the 1950s Hydra-Glide look right down to the fishtail mufflers. Underneath that retro sheet metal sits the Twin Cam 96B, the counter-balanced big twin that smooths out the ride while keeping the Softail's rigid-look frame intact. What the factory never gave the Deluxe is a radio. Riders who want turn-by-turn directions and their own soundtrack on this 2009 Deluxe add the HogPlay Media Screen.

No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen

The 2009 Harley-Davidson Deluxe left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2009 Harley-Davidson Deluxe and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2009 Harley-Davidson Deluxe

Harley rolled out the Deluxe in 2005 to give the Softail lineup a boulevard-cruiser alternative to the Heritage Softail Classic — lower bars, a solo-look seat, and less touring hardware, all dressed in the era's chrome-heavy custom style. By 2009 it's running the Twin Cam 96B, which took over the Softail range in 2007 with a fifth gear and smoother low-end pull than the old Twin Cam 88.

None of that vintage flair comes with navigation or Bluetooth, so the fix bolts straight to the bars. The HogPlay Media Screen mounts on the handlebar, wires to a switched power source and ground, and streams wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto through its own small speaker. Since the whole install is reversible, pulling it later for a stock show-bike look — or moving it to another Deluxe — takes minutes, not a rewire.

Add the HogPlay Media Screen to a 2009 Softail Deluxe and the retro sheet metal keeps its stock look while you pick up modern connectivity underneath it. Dual Bluetooth pairs your phone for wireless CarPlay or Android Auto on one channel while feeding a second channel out to an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A built-in speaker covers turn-by-turn voice prompts and light audio on its own. The whole housing is fully sealed and waterproof, built to shrug off rain, road grime, and everyday vibration on any Deluxe ride.
