The 2006 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic carries the look of the 1950s FL Hydra-Glide into the modern era — valanced fenders, wire-laced wheels, a windshield, and a quilted leather seat riding atop the rigid-look Softail frame, all powered by the counter-balanced Twin Cam 88B big twin. Harley never wired a factory radio or navigation screen into this Softail, so riders wanting turn-by-turn maps and music aboard have to add their own — the HogPlay Media Screen bolts to the bars and brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to a bike built long before either existed.

No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen

The 2006 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2006 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2006 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic

Harley built the Heritage Softail Classic to look like it rolled out of a 1950s showroom while riding on the Softail's hidden rear shocks, and the 2006 model keeps that formula honest with its full skirted fenders, chrome tank console, and leather-wrapped hard bags. None of that heritage styling left room for a modern infotainment bay, which is exactly the gap the HogPlay Media Screen fills. The 7-inch unit mounts to the handlebars with a standard clamp, taps into the bike's 12-volt system for power and ground, and reads right-side up or upside down thanks to its reversible display — a clean, non-invasive add that doesn't touch the stock ignition or wiring harness.

The HogPlay Media Screen gives the 2006 Heritage Softail Classic two Bluetooth channels working together — one pairs your phone for wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, the other feeds an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A small built-in speaker covers turn-by-turn voice prompts and light audio on its own. Fully sealed and waterproof, it's built rugged enough for whatever this Heritage Classic rides through.
