The 2006 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy sits at the end of an era — the last model year before the Twin Cam 96 and six-speed Cruise Drive arrived in 2007, meaning this Softail still runs the torquey Twin Cam 88 through a five-speed gearbox. With its solid disc wheels, wide fenders, and chrome-heavy factory look virtually unchanged since 1990, the Fat Boy is pure cruiser icon. What it never had is a factory stereo — the HogPlay Media Screen fixes that with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on any 2006 Fat Boy.

No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen

The 2006 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2006 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2006 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy

Few Harleys carry as much cultural weight as the Fat Boy, and the 2006 model rides that legacy on the final year of the Twin Cam 88 platform before Harley bumped displacement and gearing for 2007. It's a bike built for solid, planted cruising rather than electronics, which is exactly why so many owners are still running bare handlebars decades later.

The HogPlay Media Screen bolts straight to those bars with a standard clamp mount, so no dash cutting or fairing work is needed. Two wires — power and ground — tap into the existing harness, and the mount is reversible for either a top or bottom clamp position depending on how you want the screen angled. Once it's wired in, the phone pairs wirelessly and CarPlay or Android Auto is live.

Every HogPlay Media Screen runs dual Bluetooth, so your 2006 Fat Boy can pair a phone for wireless CarPlay or Android Auto on one channel while the second channel feeds an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker for real volume. A small built-in speaker handles turn-by-turn voice prompts and light audio on its own. The whole unit is fully sealed and waterproof, built rugged enough to shrug off rain, road grime, and everyday vibration.
