About 2000 Harley-Davidson Road King Models

The Road King's exposed headlamp nacelle and lack of a full fairing didn't stop Harley from fitting a factory radio in 2000 — it just meant a smaller, nacelle-mounted AM/FM unit instead of the batwing or shark-nose setups on the Street Glide and Road Glide. Police-spec builds like the Road King Police and its Japan-market twin carried the same civilian audio hardware; the light bar and radio harness were separate systems entirely. None of the eight variants offer anything close to phone pairing.

Because the nacelle opening is compact, HogPlay's Media Screen is the more common fit here, mounting to the bars above the factory gauges and adding wireless CarPlay and Android Auto without disturbing the small factory deck. Owners set on replacing the head unit outright can still run an aftermarket CarPlay radio sized to the nacelle, whether it's going on a Road King Classic or the plain Road King with Sidecar (FLHR).
