The 2017 Harley-Davidson Slim closes out the last generation of Softail Slims before the Milwaukee-Eight overhaul, riding on a torque-heavy Twin Cam 103B big twin, deep-cut chrome wheels, and a stripped, solo-seated bobber profile that swaps chrome excess for stark hot-rod attitude. Like every factory Softail Slim, it rolled off the line with no radio, no screen, and no way to pipe in navigation or music. The fix: bolt on the 7-inch HogPlay Media Screen and bring this 2017 Slim into the smartphone era.

No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen

The 2017 Harley-Davidson Slim left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2017 Harley-Davidson Slim and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2017 Harley-Davidson Slim

Harley built the Slim as the everyman bobber of the Softail family — a narrow front fender, a solo seat, and a big 103-cube Twin Cam that pulls hard off idle without ever feeling like it's chasing a tachometer. It's a bike meant to be ridden simple, not fussed over, which is exactly why bolting on a screen instead of rewiring the whole harness is the right call.

The HogPlay Media Screen mounts straight to the handlebars, wires to switched power and ground, and needs nothing else — no dash to cut, no fairing to hack apart. Once it's live, it pairs wirelessly to your phone for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and because the mount is reversible, you can flip the unit for the best sightline over the Slim's low-slung bars without extra hardware.

Give the 2017 Slim a factory-grade cockpit with the HogPlay Media Screen — dual Bluetooth lets it hold a wireless CarPlay or Android Auto connection to your phone on one channel while simultaneously feeding an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker on the other. A built-in speaker handles turn-by-turn prompts and light audio on its own, and the sealed, waterproof housing shrugs off rain, road grime, and vibration mile after mile.
