The 2017 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy S is the blacked-out, muscle-cruiser take on an American icon — solid disc wheels, a fat front tire, and the High Output Twin Cam 110B big twin borrowed from the Screamin' Eagle shop, making it one of the strongest non-CVO Softails Harley built at the time. What it doesn't have is a factory radio or infotainment screen. Riders wanting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on this bike need to add one: the HogPlay Media Screen bolts to the bars and brings modern connectivity to the 2017 Fat Boy S.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 2017 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy S left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

Built only for the 2016 and 2017 model years alongside its cousin the Softail Slim S, the Fat Boy S paired that high-output 110ci engine with murdered-out styling — blacked-out engine covers, exhaust, and those signature solid Lakester wheels — giving the classic Fat Boy silhouette a meaner, more aggressive stance. It's a bike built for torque and attitude, not touring electronics, so there's no dash-mounted screen or speaker to tap into.
The HogPlay Media Screen fills that gap without cutting into the stripped-down look. The 7-inch unit clamps to the handlebars, wires straight to a switched power source and ground, and pairs wirelessly with a phone for CarPlay or Android Auto. Mounting is reversible, so nothing about the Fat Boy S's blacked-out lines has to change permanently.
The HogPlay Media Screen on this 2017 Fat Boy S runs dual Bluetooth: one channel pairs your phone for wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, the other feeds an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A built-in speaker covers turn-by-turn voice prompts and light audio on its own. Fully sealed and waterproof, it's rugged enough to ride through rain and vibration without flinching. Shop the HogPlay Media Screen.
