About 2007 Motorcycles
By 2007 the touring lineup had a clear trim split: base models kept a plain AM/FM head unit, while higher trims added Harman/Kardon speakers for noticeably better sound at highway speed. Neither setup did anything for a phone, since Bluetooth streaming and CarPlay were still years away from any factory Harley radio. Softail, Dyna, and Sportster models sat outside this split entirely, with no factory radio of any kind.
A 2007 Harley-Davidson touring bike, Harman/Kardon or base, upgrades to wireless CarPlay through an aftermarket head unit, while the rest of the lineup adds a handlebar Media Screen instead. Whichever trim it started as, the finished dash accepts the same aftermarket unit without any cutting into the factory wiring harness underneath the tank, and the original speakers stay right where they are.
